 Garex Wire Aerials - 6 February 2012

All popular credit & debit cards accepted, phone or email details. Make Cheque or Postal Order payable to Spectrum Communications.

NOMAD WIDEBAND PORTABLE SCANNER AERIAL 25-1300MHz.  The aerial is made from 300 Ohm feeder configured like a Slim Jim, but actually really a Slim G with stub matching.  It is intended to be portable but can be used as a permanent aerial in places where conventional  wire aerials cannot be used.  The receiving twin wire is 1.2m (48”) long and the matching unit is 18cm (7”) long.  It is fitted with 4m of 50 Ohm coax cable with a BNC male connector.  When folded up it is 25cm (10”) long and weighs just 250g. Price £18 plus P&P £3.50.

ACTIVE NOMAD WIDEBAND PORTABLE SCANNER AERIAL 25-1300MHz.  This is the NOMAD plus the Garex GA-5 wideband preamplifier covering the same range.  The aerial package comprises Nomad aerial, GA-5 Preamplifier, supply & splitter box and a battery box.  The twin feeder aerial is 1.2m (48”) long with an 18cm (7”) matching unit and a 7m coaxial feeder.  The supply splitter is 100x20mm (4x0.75”) plus a 280mm (11”) coaxial tail fitted with a male BNC connector.  Total weight 335g.   Supply requirements 6-15V at 10-15mA via a 2.1mm DC jack.  Alternatively it can be supplied with 6V from the 4xAA battery pack. Price £30.00 plus £3.50 P&P.

LONG WIRE PORTABLE AERIAL for receiving 2-30MHz.  It comprises 14m (46’) of PVC covered wire together with a length of thicker PVC wire with a crocodile clip to provide an earth.  Both connect to a 1m length of coax cable with a BNC or PL259 connector.  Price £5.00 plus £3.50 P&P.

Optional adapters BNC female to PL259 £2.00, BNC female to SMA plug £2.80, BNC female to 3.5mm jack plug £1.50, BNC female to phono plug £1.50.

ANGLER HF/VHF/UHF AERIAL uses the Long wire portable aerial section 14m (46”) long for receiving 100KHz – 30MHz together with a wire VHF/UHF section 90cm (36”) covering 30 – 1300MHz.  The wire sections are brought together using a combiner unit and a tail of coax 0.3m long. Price £20 plus £3.50 P&P.

SLIM G 144-146MHz TRANSMIT & RECEIVE AERIAL.  This was previously called the GAREX JIMP and is essentially a portable version of the Slim Jim described by G2BCX in PW April 1978.  Actually the aerial described as a J pole is really a misnomer as it really is a squashed letter G, hence the new name.  It is ¾ of a wavelength long, linked across at top and bottom and with a gap ¼ wave up on one leg.   This means that it is a ½ wave above a ¼ wave and achieves a gain of 1.8dBd, which on 2m is 12dBd better than a 150mm rubber duck.  The main element is fabricated using 300 Ohm twin feeder with part of the ¼ wave matching section housed in a watertight housing.  There is 4m of coax cable with a choice of BNC, or PL259 connectors.  The 2m version is 1.55m (61”) long and folds down to 25cm (10”).  Weight is just 250g (9oz). Price £20.00 plus £3.50 P&P.

COMPACT HF ACTIVE AERIAL for receiving 500KHz to 30MHz.  Ideally suited to permanent installation in marine environments and where other wire aerials would be unacceptable. It comprises a compacted element together with a wideband amplifier in a 420mm (16.5”) waterproof cylindrical housing together with an L mounting bracket and 7m length of coax cable with Belling Lee connector.  The amplifier gives 21dB gain flat within 1.5dB from 680kHz to 30MHz.  There is an adapter to provide DC up the coax to the aerial and the RF out via a 1m length of coax terminated with BNC or Phono or PL259 connector.  Also a red/black fused power lead to connect between the adapter and a supply of 12/13.5V with a current of up to 20mA.    Price £42.50 plus £4 P&P.

Optional 12V 500mA power supply unit £9.00.
